The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta has demanded a report from the health department chief secretary and NHH mission director after complaints that 108 ambulance bills are being verified and paid without patient names or mobile numbers.

The 108 ambulance service, a critical emergency response system in Madhya Pradesh, has come under scrutiny after reports surfaced that bills are being processed without patient identification details. According to the complaint, several ambulance claims were verified and paid even though the patient’s name and mobile number were missing from the records. In response, the state Lokayukta has formally requested a detailed explanation from the health department’s chief secretary and the director of the National Health Mission (NHH) mission. The Lokayukta’s letter seeks clarity on the verification procedures, audit trails, and safeguards in place to prevent such lapses. Authorities are expected to submit a report within a stipulated timeframe, and the investigation may lead to reforms in the billing and verification process for emergency services.
