Madhya Pradesh's Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput ordered dealers to keep a maximum of 4,000 quintals of sugar and prohibited storage beyond 30 days, with wholesale consumers allowed only a 15‑day stock.
Madhya Pradesh state government, through Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput, issued a directive that sugar dealers may hold no more than 4,000 quintals of stock at any time.
The order further bans any storage by dealers that exceeds 30 days, while wholesale consumers are permitted to maintain only a 15‑day inventory.
Officials said the measure is intended to curb hoarding, stabilize market prices and ensure continuous supply to end‑users.
The ministry warned that dealers violating the limits will face penalties under the state's food control regulations.
The directive forms part of a broader strategy to manage sugar availability and price volatility across the state.
