From today, Madhya Pradesh’s Sugam Parivahan Service will operate 351 buses across seven cities, featuring CCTV, panic buttons and live‑location tracking, with a long‑term goal of 15,000 buses.
The Madhya Pradesh government inaugurated its Sugam Parivahan Service today, with Governor and Chief Minister jointly cutting the ribbon at a ceremony in Bhopal. The launch marks the first phase of a state‑wide public transport upgrade aimed at enhancing commuter safety and reliability.
In the initial rollout, 351 buses will ply routes in seven major cities, each fitted with closed‑circuit television cameras, panic‑button alerts for passengers, and real‑time GPS tracking visible to commuters via a mobile app. These technological additions are intended to deter crime and provide immediate assistance in emergencies.
The transport ministry has set an ambitious target of expanding the fleet to 15,000 buses over the coming years, positioning the scheme as a flagship model for modern, secure urban mobility across India.
