The Madhya Pradesh government has approved ₹502 crore to reimburse tuition fees of over 8.19 lakh children studying in private schools under the Right to Education Act. The funds will be distributed to 20,456 private schools across the state.

The state’s education department announced the financial allocation on Tuesday, stating that the amount will cover the fee reimbursement for the academic year 2024-25. Officials said the move aims to ensure that children from economically weaker sections continue to receive quality education in private institutions as mandated by the RTE Act.

A total of 20,456 private schools have been identified as eligible for the reimbursement, benefiting approximately 8.19 lakh students. The government emphasized that the funds will be transferred directly to the schools’ bank accounts to avoid delays.

Education Minister Vishvas Sarang highlighted that the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to inclusive education and reducing the financial burden on parents. He added that regular audits will be conducted to ensure proper utilization of the reimbursement amount.
