The Madhya Pradesh Food Department inspected Shri Amarpur Traders on Mil Area Road in Muraina and confiscated about 375 kilograms of raisins valued at roughly ₹1 lakh.

The Food Department of Madhya Pradesh carried out a surprise inspection at Shri Amarpur Traders, located on Mil Area Road in Muraina, a few days before the Diwali festivities. The operation was part of a broader pre‑festival sweep aimed at checking the quality and legality of food items sold in the market.

During the inspection, officials seized roughly 375 kilograms of raisins. The department estimated the market value of the confiscated stock at about one lakh rupees. The seizure suggests possible non‑compliance with food safety standards or the sale of unregistered stock.

Department officials said the action underscores the agency’s commitment to ensuring that consumers receive safe and authentic food products during the high‑demand holiday period. They added that similar checks are being conducted across other towns in the state.

The traders from Shri Amarpur have been directed to appear before the department for further inquiry, and legal proceedings may follow if violations are confirmed.

Such pre‑Diwali inspections are routine in Madhya Pradesh, reflecting the authorities’ focus on curbing adulteration and protecting public health during the country’s biggest shopping season.
