The Madhya Pradesh Food and Drug Administration has announced heightened dairy inspections across the state as major festivals approach, aiming to ensure product safety and quality for consumers.

The Madhya Pradesh Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a directive to intensify routine checks on dairy products in the run‑up to the upcoming festive period. Inspectors will focus on verifying compliance with temperature controls, labeling standards and microbial safety across milk, curd, butter and other dairy items sold in wholesale and retail outlets.

Officials say the move is prompted by a historical spike in complaints of adulterated or sub‑standard dairy goods during high‑demand festivals such as Diwali and Navratri. The FDA plans to increase on‑site sampling, conduct surprise audits and enforce stricter penalties for violations.

The agency has also coordinated with local dairy cooperatives and private manufacturers to facilitate rapid corrective actions. Consumers are advised to check product labels for expiry dates and FSSAI certification before purchase.

The heightened surveillance is expected to run through the festival season, after which the FDA will review the outcomes and adjust its monitoring framework accordingly.
