Following irregularities detected in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Madhya Pradesh authorities have taken action against 83 hospitals, removing 18 from the network and imposing fines on 50.

State health officials in Madhya Pradesh announced a crackdown after audits uncovered irregularities in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme. The investigation focused on hospitals that were alleged to have submitted false claims or failed to meet the scheme’s eligibility criteria.

A total of 83 hospitals were put under scrutiny. Of these, 18 have been removed from the Ayushman network pending further verification, while 50 have been slapped with monetary penalties for non‑compliance. The remaining hospitals are being monitored for corrective action.

The Madhya Pradesh Health Department issued a statement emphasizing that the measures aim to protect the interests of the scheme’s beneficiaries and ensure that public funds are used transparently. Officials said they will continue periodic audits and have warned that repeat violations could lead to suspension of the hospitals’ participation.

Beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme are expected to face minimal disruption, as the department is coordinating with other accredited hospitals to accommodate patients from the excluded facilities.
