Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched a ₹539‑crore road‑widening scheme in Ujjain to upgrade infrastructure ahead of the Simhastha 2028 religious fair.
The Madhya Pradesh government today inaugurated a major road‑widening project in Ujjain, with an allocated budget of ₹539 crore. The ceremony was led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who emphasized the need for improved connectivity as the city prepares to host the Simhastha 2028 religious congregation.
The funding will be used to expand key arterial roads leading to the Kshipra River ghats, where millions of pilgrims are expected to gather. Upgraded lanes, better drainage and enhanced traffic management are part of the plan, aiming to reduce congestion and ensure safety during the fair.
Simhastha, held once every twelve years, draws devotees from across India and abroad. Organisers project a footfall of several million, making robust infrastructure essential for smooth operations and emergency response.
In addition to road works, the state has earmarked resources for temporary shelters, sanitation facilities and medical camps, underscoring a comprehensive approach to accommodate the massive influx of visitors.
