The state meteorological department has warned of intense rainfall across Madhya Pradesh for the next four days, with extreme alerts for Umaria‑Balaghat and heavy alerts for 15 other districts.

The Madhya Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has issued a weather warning indicating that the region will experience a sustained period of heavy rainfall over the next four days. Meteorologists have identified Umaria and Balaghat as the focal points for extremely heavy rain, while fifteen additional districts have been placed under a heavy rain alert.

As of today, the state has recorded 27.7 inches of rainfall, falling short of the climatological average of 37.3 inches for this time of year. Officials stress that the shortfall underscores the need for continued monitoring, especially as the monsoon season progresses.

The department also highlighted that September will require an additional 9.6 inches of rain to meet the seasonal target. Residents in the affected districts have been advised to stay alert, avoid low‑lying areas, and follow directives from local authorities to mitigate flood risks.

Authorities have activated emergency response teams in the most vulnerable zones and are coordinating with the Indian Meteorological Department for real‑time updates. The public is urged to stay informed through official channels and to take precautionary measures as the weather system moves across the state.
