A feral jackal attacked a gathering in Bikramganj, Rohtas on Friday night, seriously wounding businessman Satish Kumar and injuring dozens of others.
Around 9 p.m. on Friday, residents of Bikramganj town in Rohtas district reported a sudden attack by a wild jackal that lunged at a group of people gathered near a local market. Witnesses said the animal appeared agitated and moved erratically before it began biting and clawing at passers‑by.
Among those targeted was local businessman Satish Kumar, whose face was bitten severely. Kumar was rushed to a private hospital where doctors confirmed serious facial injuries and placed him under observation.
Police and animal‑control officials arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. They reported that the jackal injured several other individuals, most of whom sustained minor cuts and bruises. The injured were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the animal's abnormal behaviour and are urging residents to avoid approaching stray wildlife. A team of wildlife officers is expected to capture the jackal for further examination.
