Police in Ludhiana have uncovered a fraud scheme that swindled Rs 15.60 lakh by promising overseas travel.
Police in Ludhiana registered a case after a resident reported being defrauded of Rs 15.60 lakh. The victim was approached with a proposal to facilitate travel abroad, for which a large sum was collected in advance.
According to the investigation, the perpetrators used the promise of overseas employment or education to extract money, assuring the victim that the funds would cover visas, tickets and other expenses. No legitimate travel arrangements were made, and the promised assistance never materialised.
Ludhiana police have launched an inquiry, seizing any related documents and tracing the flow of the money. Officials said they are working to identify all individuals involved and will file charges under relevant fraud statutes.
