The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that a low‑pressure area over the Bay of Bengal will bring widespread heavy rainfall to eastern states in the coming days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has identified a low‑pressure area developing over the Bay of Bengal. Forecast models indicate that the system will intensify and move westward, bringing prolonged and heavy rain to the eastern part of the country.
States such as Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and parts of Andhra Pradesh are expected to experience the brunt of the rainfall, with the possibility of localized flooding in low‑lying districts.
Authorities have urged residents to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow any advisories issued by local disaster management agencies. Agricultural areas may face water‑logging, while urban centers could see traffic disruptions.
The IMD will continue to monitor the system and issue updates every six hours as the situation evolves.
