A fresh low-pressure area is expected to develop over Odisha today, bringing extremely heavy rainfall to the Mayurbhanj district.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has identified a new low-pressure system forming over the eastern coast of Odisha. Forecast models indicate that the system will intensify as it moves inland, targeting the Mayurbhanj district with intense precipitation.

Residents of Mayurbhanj have been advised to stay alert as the expected rainfall could exceed normal May averages, raising the risk of flash floods and waterlogging in low-lying areas. Local authorities are on standby to activate emergency response measures, including the deployment of rescue teams and temporary shelters.

The IMD has issued a weather warning for the region, urging farmers to protect crops and commuters to exercise caution on roads that may become slippery. Continuous updates will be provided as the system evolves throughout the day.
