On Monday, 24 August, the town of Onkarshwar in Madhya Pradesh will witness the annual Maha Sawari of Lord Onkareshwar, marking the final Monday of the Hindu month of Sawan.
The deity will be seated in a gleaming silver palanquin and will tour the town for roughly ten hours, stopping at designated points. A special congregation is scheduled in front of the Mamaleshwar temple where the deity will be presented to devotees.
Thousands of worshippers from surrounding villages are expected to gather along the route, offering prayers and participating in the procession. Local authorities have deployed traffic‑management teams and security personnel to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
The procession forms a central part of the Sawan festivities, symbolising communal harmony and deep devotion among the faithful.
