The Lokayukta police in Indore have filed a case against the former sarpanch, secretary and their son of Banak Gram Panchayat for illegally attaching a government vehicle to Panchayat work to generate personal profit.
The Lokayukta police in Indore district have opened a criminal case after uncovering irregularities in the use of a government vehicle by Banak Gram Panchayat. An investigation revealed that the vehicle, meant for official Panchayat duties, was attached to a project that directly benefited the son of the then‑sarpanch and secretary.
According to the probe report, the officials bypassed standard procurement and usage guidelines, allowing the son to earn financial gains from the vehicle’s deployment. The misuse contravenes state rules governing the allocation of government assets for personal or familial profit.
Based on these findings, the Lokayukta police lodged a formal FIR against the former sarpanch, the former secretary and their son, citing violations of the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Act and relevant anti‑corruption statutes. The case is expected to proceed to trial, with the accused likely to face penalties including fines and imprisonment if convicted.
The Lokayukta office has indicated that the investigation remains ongoing and that further action may be taken against any additional individuals found to be complicit in the scheme.
