Lawyer Attacked in Chhindwara Court After Refusing to Pay for Alcohol

A lawyer was physically assaulted inside the Chhindwara district court after he declined to pay money for alcohol, prompting police investigation.
Earlier this week, a lawyer visiting the Chhindwara district court was assaulted by a group of unidentified persons. The confrontation reportedly began when the lawyer refused to hand over cash that the assailants demanded for purchasing alcohol.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers confronted the lawyer inside the court complex, demanded the money, and when he declined, they resorted to physical violence. The lawyer sustained injuries but remained conscious and was able to seek assistance from nearby court staff.
Police officials arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported. An FIR has been lodged, and the investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators and determine whether the assault was motivated solely by the monetary demand or had other underlying factors.
The incident has raised concerns about security within court premises, prompting the district administration to review existing safety protocols for legal professionals and visitors.
