The Union Law Minister inspected the ongoing implementation of a new queue system at the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, and noted the steps taken to streamline pilgrim movement.

The Union Law Minister paid a surprise visit to the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, to assess the rollout of a newly introduced queue management system aimed at handling the massive influx of devotees during festivals and daily worship.

Officials briefed the minister on the system’s design, which integrates electronic ticketing and staggered entry points to reduce crowding at the temple’s main precincts. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the state and central authorities to improve safety and visitor experience at high‑traffic religious sites.

After touring the entry lanes and observing the digital token counters in operation, the minister said the progress was encouraging and urged continued coordination between temple management, local police and the Ministry of Law and Justice to ensure the system functions smoothly during peak periods.

The minister’s review is expected to inform further refinements before the upcoming Rath Yatra, when pilgrim numbers traditionally surge.
