Laos' tourism ministry has expressed a desire to boost tourism ties with India as the two countries mark 70 years of diplomatic relations.
New Delhi – As India and Laos commemorate seven decades of diplomatic relations, officials from Laos’ tourism ministry have called for a stronger partnership in the tourism sector. The ministry’s statement highlighted the potential for joint promotional campaigns, easier visa procedures and increased flight connectivity to attract more Indian travelers to Laos and vice‑versa. Both governments are expected to discuss concrete steps during upcoming bilateral talks.
Laos, which has been positioning itself as a niche destination for cultural and eco‑tourism, sees India’s growing outbound travel market as a key opportunity. Enhancing tourism links could also support broader economic cooperation between the two nations.
While specific agreements have yet to be finalized, the expressed intent signals a mutual interest in deepening people‑to‑people contacts and expanding tourism revenue streams as part of the 70‑year friendship celebration.
