A landslide in the Ghatkopar area of Mumbai has killed two people and left between six and eight others trapped under the debris.
A sudden landslide struck the Ghatkopar locality of Mumbai early this morning, crushing houses and infrastructure. The debris buried two residents, while six to eight others are reported to be trapped beneath the rubble.
Rescue teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade and the Municipal Corporation rushed to the site, deploying shovels and breathing apparatus to extract survivors. The operation is ongoing, with medical teams on standby to treat the injured.
The Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority has declared the area a disaster zone and is coordinating with the National Disaster Response Force for additional support.
