The KSU has reminded the Chief Minister of Meghalaya that the promise to operationalise the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences by 2025 remains unfulfilled and is still only on paper.

KSU has formally called on the Chief Minister of Meghalaya to act on a commitment made earlier to bring the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) into operation by 2025. The student body noted that, despite repeated assurances, the project has not progressed beyond documentation.

In a statement released today, KSU highlighted that the promised timelines have lapsed and urged the state government to allocate the necessary resources and clear pending approvals. The organization stressed that the institute, once functional, would address critical healthcare gaps in the region and provide advanced medical training.

The reminder comes amid growing concerns from local stakeholders about delayed infrastructure projects in the Northeast. KSU has asked the CM's office for a concrete action plan and a revised schedule to ensure the institute becomes operational without further postponement.
