Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon has moved the Delhi High Court to protect her personality rights against unauthorized AI-generated deepfakes and identity misuse. The petition seeks legal restraint on the use of her likeness in synthetic media.
Kriti Sanon filed a petition in the Delhi High Court alleging that her personality rights are being violated through the creation and circulation of AI-generated deepfake videos and images. She contends that such synthetic media uses her likeness without consent and can cause reputational harm.
The plea requests the court to issue directions restraining any person or entity from producing, distributing or hosting deepfake content that features her image, voice or other personal attributes. It also seeks compensation for any unauthorized use already made.
The case highlights growing concerns among celebrities about the misuse of artificial intelligence to replicate their identity. The Delhi High Court has yet to schedule a hearing on the matter.
