Koraput Becomes Temporary Rail Hub After Maligura–Chhatariput Landslide

A recent landslide on the Maligura–Chhatariput railway corridor has severed a critical stretch of track, prompting railway officials to reconfigure services in the region. Koraput station, located in the western part of Odisha, has been designated as a temporary rail hub to accommodate diverted trains and maintain limited passenger and freight movement.

The incident occurred on a steep section of the line, where heavy rainfall had destabilized the soil. Initial assessments indicate that the damage has halted all through services between Maligura and Chhatariput, affecting both local commuters and goods transport.

Railway authorities are working to clear the debris and restore the line. In the meantime, passengers are advised to use alternative routes, and freight operators are being directed to reroute shipments via nearby junctions.
