The Komee Insaf Morcha announced a statewide shutdown in Punjab today, leading to closed shops and a traffic jam on the Mohali highway as police deployed large numbers of personnel.

The Komee Insaf Morcha issued a call for a complete shutdown across Punjab on Thursday, urging citizens to observe a bandh as part of its political agenda. The announcement was made through the group's spokesperson and quickly spread across local media and social platforms.

In Mohali, the directive resulted in most commercial establishments keeping their shutters down, with many shop owners reporting that they could not open for business. Simultaneously, the main highway passing through the city experienced a severe congestion as motorists stalled, creating a gridlock that stretched for several kilometres.

Law enforcement agencies responded by deploying a heavy police presence along the affected routes and near market areas to maintain order and prevent any escalation. Officials confirmed that additional personnel were on standby to manage crowd control and ensure that essential services remained uninterrupted.
