The KOHUR political group in Manipur has publicly condemned Home Minister Amit Shah for his silence regarding the ongoing UNC blockade, alleging that the central government has failed both constitutionally and in humanitarian terms.
The Union Cabinet’s blockade of the Upper Northeast Corridor (UNC) has disrupted trade and travel in Manipur for weeks.
In a press statement, KOHUR leaders demanded that Home Minister Amit Shah address the blockade, accusing the central government of ignoring constitutional duties and failing to protect citizens’ basic rights.
KOHUR’s spokesperson said the silence has turned the blockade into a humanitarian crisis, with shortages of essential goods and delayed medical supplies.
The party called for an immediate review of the blockade policy and urged the government to engage with local stakeholders to restore normalcy.
