Congress senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge criticised the central government's decision to cancel MP Revanth Reddy's scheduled visit to the United States, calling it deeply unfair.

Mallikarjun Kharge, a senior figure in the Indian National Congress, publicly condemned the central government's move to cancel the planned United States trip of Congress MP Revanth Reddy. In a statement, Kharge described the action as "deeply unfair" and an affront to democratic norms.

Revanth Reddy, a prominent Telangana legislator, had been set to travel to the US to engage with the Indian diaspora and discuss policy matters. The cancellation was reportedly issued by the Centre without prior notice, prompting sharp criticism from opposition leaders.

Kharge demanded a clear explanation from the government, arguing that elected representatives should be free to undertake diplomatic and outreach missions abroad. He warned that such unilateral decisions could undermine the spirit of political engagement.

As of now, the Ministry of External Affairs has not issued an official response to the allegations, and the matter remains unresolved.

The incident adds to the growing friction between the ruling coalition and the opposition ahead of upcoming electoral contests, highlighting concerns over the treatment of opposition leaders.
