A resident of Kharar, Punjab, was duped of ₹29.05 lakh after being promised large profits from trading.
A resident of Kharar in Punjab reported that he was swindled out of ₹29.05 lakh after being assured of massive returns from a trading scheme. The victim said the fraudster approached him with promises of quick, high‑value gains and asked him to transfer the money to a trading account under the pretext of investment.
According to the complainant, the full amount was wired within a few days, after which the alleged perpetrator became unresponsive and the promised profits never materialised. The victim only realized he had been deceived when he attempted to withdraw the funds and found the account inaccessible.
Local police have registered a fraud case and are probing the identity of the individual who orchestrated the scheme. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution when approached with unsolicited investment offers, especially those that guarantee unusually high returns.
Trading‑related scams have risen across the region, prompting law‑enforcement agencies to intensify monitoring of fraudulent financial activities and to advise citizens to verify the credentials of any broker or investment platform before committing funds.
