Kerala police seized 1.52 kilograms of cannabis in Thodupuzha and arrested three suspects, including a CPM functionary.
Kerala police recovered 1.52 kg of cannabis during a raid in Thodupuzha on Monday. The seized drugs were found in a vehicle parked near a local market. Three individuals were taken into custody at the scene.
Among the arrested was a functionary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), while the other two suspects were identified as local residents. All three are currently being processed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The operation comes amid a broader crackdown on drug trafficking in the state, with authorities citing a rise in cannabis cultivation and distribution in the Western Ghats region.
A police spokesperson said the seizure was part of a coordinated effort to dismantle drug networks in the area and pledged to continue operations to curb illegal narcotics.
