Kerala Police have launched artificial‑intelligence tools to map accident‑prone locations and to detect cyber threats, aiming to improve road safety and cybercrime response.

Kerala's law enforcement agency has introduced an artificial‑intelligence platform that analyses traffic patterns, historical accident data and real‑time sensor inputs to highlight road stretches with a high likelihood of crashes. The system flags these zones for targeted enforcement, signage upgrades and public awareness campaigns.

In parallel, the same AI framework monitors digital networks for anomalous activity, enabling the police to spot potential cyber threats such as phishing attacks, ransomware attempts and illicit data exchanges. Alerts generated by the algorithm are routed to the state's cyber‑crime cell for rapid investigation.

The rollout, overseen by the Home Department, began as a pilot in a few districts before expanding statewide. Officials say the initiative is part of Kerala's broader digital‑transformation agenda, aiming to harness technology for safer streets and a more resilient cyber environment.

Police officials anticipate that data‑driven policing will allow more efficient deployment of patrol units, reduce accident fatalities and strengthen the state's capacity to counter emerging cyber risks.
