Kerala Man Shares Video of Expired Passport Used as Personal Diary; Warned Against It

A resident of Kerala recently shared a video on social media in which he demonstrated how he had repurposed his expired passport as a personal diary. The footage shows the passport’s pages filled with handwritten notes, sketches, and personal reflections.

Passport officials and security experts warned that using a passport in this manner can compromise sensitive personal information. The document contains details such as biometric data, photograph, and travel history, which could be misused if the passport falls into the wrong hands.

Additionally, experts noted that an expired passport is no longer a valid travel document, and any alterations or misuse may lead to legal complications. They advised citizens to keep passports in secure, official storage and to dispose of them properly when they are no longer needed.

The incident has sparked a conversation online about the importance of safeguarding official documents and respecting their intended purpose.
