Kerala Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for five districts and warned coastal areas of potential high waves.

On Sunday, the Kerala Meteorological Department issued a heavy rain warning for the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Thrissur. The warning covers the period from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. next day, with rainfall amounts expected to exceed 100 mm in some areas. Coastal regions along the Arabian Sea are also cautioned against high waves, with wave heights potentially reaching 2 to 3 meters. Residents in vulnerable zones are advised to secure loose items, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay updated via local radio and official websites. The department urged local authorities to prepare emergency response teams and ensure that evacuation routes remain clear.
