The Kerala education minister called on heads of state universities to maintain political neutrality and steer clear of any polarising organisations.

The education minister of Kerala addressed university vice‑chancellors in a meeting, emphasizing that academic institutions must remain free from partisan influences. He warned that any association with groups that promote division could undermine the credibility of higher education.

According to the minister, universities serve a constitutional role of fostering inclusive learning, and their leaders should exemplify impartiality. He urged them to reject overt or covert links with organisations that could be perceived as advancing a particular ideology.

The statement comes amid growing concerns nationwide about campus politics and the potential for external groups to sway student bodies. While no immediate policy changes were announced, the minister said the directive will be monitored and that non‑compliance could attract administrative action.
