A ceremonial boat procession of the deity Kashi Vishwanath took place on the Narmada River in Maheshwar, followed by a mahā‑arati and plans for a city‑wide Shiv doli tour.

Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a ceremonial boat procession of the idol of Lord Kashi Vishwanath on the Narmada River. The deity was placed on a decorated vessel and taken downstream amid chants and traditional music, marking a rare public display of the sacred image.

Following the boat ride, a mahā‑arati was performed on the riverbank. Devotees gathered in large numbers, offering prayers and receiving a glimpse of the deity after the ritual. The atmosphere was described as reverent and festive, with local residents and pilgrims alike participating.

Organisers announced that on the upcoming Monday, two Shiv doli processions—one carrying the idol of Kashi Vishwanath and the other of Kalashwar Mahadev—will embark on a city‑wide tour. The dolis are expected to visit key temples and public spaces, allowing more worshippers to partake in the celebrations.

The event underscores Maheshwar’s cultural significance as a pilgrimage hub along the Narmada and reflects the continued tradition of river‑based religious observances in central India.
