The Karnataka government has introduced a new Textile and Apparel Policy aimed at strengthening the state's garment sector.
Bengaluru, Oct 1 (The Hindu) – The Karnataka state administration announced a comprehensive Textile and Apparel Policy designed to stimulate growth in the region's garment and fabric manufacturing ecosystem. The policy outlines a strategic framework intended to attract investment, modernise production facilities and create employment opportunities for skilled and unskilled workers alike.
Officials said the initiative will focus on enhancing value chains, encouraging research and development, and facilitating access to credit for small and medium enterprises operating in the textile segment. By aligning with national objectives for export promotion, the state aims to position Karnataka as a competitive hub for apparel production.
The announcement was made during a press briefing by the state’s Department of Industries, underscoring the government's commitment to reviving traditional clusters while integrating advanced technologies. Stakeholders from industry bodies and trade associations have been invited to provide feedback as the policy moves toward implementation.
The policy is expected to be rolled out in phases over the coming months, with periodic reviews to assess its impact on sectoral output and employment generation.
