The Karnataka government has unveiled a pioneering health policy aimed at addressing menopause‑related health issues among women.
The state has announced a first‑of‑its‑kind policy that places menopause at the centre of its women’s health agenda, offering screening, counselling and treatment for symptoms such as hot flashes, osteoporosis and mood disorders.
Under the scheme, the Karnataka Health Department will train primary care physicians and community health workers to recognise menopause‑related conditions and provide evidence‑based care, while setting up dedicated clinics in district hospitals.
Officials say the initiative will reduce complications, improve quality of life for millions of women and create a model that other states can emulate.
