The Karnataka cabinet has cleared the establishment of Global Technology Centres in the northern cities of Belagavi and Hubballi to expand the state’s tech ecosystem.
The Karnataka state cabinet has given the green light to set up Global Technology Centres in the northern districts of Belagavi and Hubballi. The decision is part of a broader strategy to decentralise high‑tech development beyond Bengaluru and stimulate regional growth.
The approved centres will focus on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and advanced manufacturing. State authorities have pledged financial support, infrastructure incentives and facilitation for industry‑academic collaborations.
Officials said the new hubs are expected to attract private investment, create skilled jobs and strengthen Karnataka’s position as a leading technology destination in India. The move also aligns with the state’s ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive digital economy across all its regions.
