Following student protests, the Karnataka Examinations Authority has shifted the process for cancelling engineering seats to a digital platform, aiming to streamline the procedure.
Students from several engineering colleges staged protests demanding a transparent and timely seat cancellation process. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) had previously handled cancellations through a manual, paper‑based system, which critics said caused delays and confusion. In response to the unrest, KEA announced that it would now conduct all seat cancellations via an online portal effective from the upcoming admission cycle. The digital platform will allow candidates to apply for cancellation, track status, and receive confirmation within hours. KEA officials said the move aims to reduce administrative bottlenecks and improve accountability.
