The Karnataka State Election Commission has finalized the electoral roll after the State Implementation Review, deleting 1.08 crore entries and leaving 4.55 crore voters registered.
The Karnataka State Election Commission (SEC) announced today that the electoral roll has been finalized following the State Implementation Review (SIR). The review, which examined voter registrations across the state, led to the deletion of 1.08 crore entries deemed duplicate, erroneous or ineligible.
After the deletions, the roll now lists 4.55 crore voters, a figure that the SEC says reflects a more accurate and up‑to‑date electorate. The commission highlighted that the process involved cross‑checking with police records, voter lists from previous elections, and biometric data where available.
Political parties have welcomed the move, citing the need for a clean roll to ensure free and fair elections. The SEC also noted that the updated list will be used for the upcoming assembly polls scheduled for 2024.
The commission will now circulate the final roll to district election officers, who will oversee its implementation at polling stations. Voters are advised to verify their registration details on the SEC’s online portal.
