Deputy Chief Minister Parameshwara has said that the new airport serving Bengaluru should be built near Tumakuru, citing connectivity and space advantages.
Deputy Chief Minister Parameshwara announced that the second airport for Bengaluru should be located near Tumakuru, a town about 100 kilometres north of the city. He said the site offers ample land and better road connectivity to the capital. The current Kempegowda International Airport is already operating at near‑capacity, and a new terminal is needed to handle growing passenger traffic. The government will now consider feasibility studies and land acquisition plans for the proposed Tumakuru location.
