Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Shivakumar warned Tamil Nadu not to interfere in the investigation of the recent Chamarajanagar killings, stating that law‑and‑order is a state subject.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Shivakumar on Thursday publicly cautioned the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu against any involvement in the probe of the recent killings in Chamarajanagar district. He asserted that maintaining law and order falls squarely within the jurisdiction of a state government, and that external commentary could undermine the constitutional balance between states. The warning followed remarks from Tamil Nadu officials who had expressed concern over the incident and suggested possible assistance to Karnataka authorities. Shivakumar urged both governments to respect federal principles and to allow Karnataka’s police and investigative agencies to handle the case through established legal channels.
