Karnataka CM Orders District Collectors Held Accountable for Question Paper Leaks

Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar has announced that district collectors will now be held responsible for any future leaks of examination question papers, aiming to curb the growing issue of exam malpractice.
District collectors (DCs) have long been the administrative heads of districts in Karnataka, overseeing a range of civic and developmental functions. Recent incidents of leaked question papers in state examinations have raised concerns about the integrity of the educational system.
In a statement released by the Chief Minister's office, D. K. Shivakumar declared that from now on, DCs will be held directly accountable for any leak of examination papers. The move is part of a broader effort to strengthen the examination process and restore public confidence.
The policy will see DCs subject to disciplinary action, including possible suspension or removal, if found complicit in leaking or facilitating the release of question papers. The government also plans to introduce stricter monitoring mechanisms at all levels of the exam administration.
Officials said the decision follows consultations with the education department and law enforcement agencies. The CM urged all district officials to cooperate fully with the new guidelines and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
