Karnataka Announces Ring Road Scheme for 172 Talukas

The Karnataka government today announced a new ring road scheme that will cover 172 talukas across the state. The plan aims to create a network of bypasses and ring roads around major towns and cities, improving traffic flow and reducing congestion. The initiative is expected to cut travel times between district headquarters and neighboring towns by up to 30 percent. Work on the first phase, which will focus on the Bengaluru and Mysuru regions, is slated to begin in the next fiscal year, with the entire project projected to be completed within eight years. The state has earmarked ₹15,000 crore for the scheme, with additional funding expected from central government grants.
