Kanpur police arrested Subrat Manocha for allegedly plotting his father Vineet Manocha's murder over financial and property concerns, with daughter-in-law Shalu also held.
Kanpur police have arrested Subrat Manocha for allegedly orchestrating the murder of his father, Vineet Manocha, a city-based millionaire, inside his apartment. Investigators said the motive was rooted in financial anxiety and fear that the father might transfer property to another woman linked to him.
Subrat, who reportedly had gambling debts, initially planned to stage the killing as an accident, but the plot changed as it was executed, police said. Evidence gathered during the probe pointed to a conspiracy involving more than one person.
Apart from Subrat, his wife Shalu has also been arrested in connection with the case. Police said further investigation is focused on establishing the sequence of events and the roles of others who may have assisted in the crime.
