Juvenile Gharial Spotted in Assam, Signalling River Ecosystem Revival

Assam has witnessed a promising development in its river ecosystem: the sighting of a juvenile gharial. This critically endangered species, known for its long, narrow snout, is a key indicator of healthy river conditions. The sighting has been hailed as a positive sign by Chief Minister Himanta Sarma, who emphasized its significance for the state's environment. Gharials are highly sensitive to pollution and habitat degradation, making their presence a testament to the improving state of Assam's rivers.
