The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau caught junior engineer Deepika red‑handed after finding a Rs 15,000 bribe in her desk drawer for altering an agricultural electricity connection.

Chidawa, Rajasthan – The state's Anti‑Corruption Bureau detained a junior engineer named Deepika after a routine inspection uncovered a cash payment of Rs 15,000 hidden in her desk drawer. The money was allegedly offered by a local farmer seeking to have an agricultural electricity line reconnected without following the standard procedure.

According to the bureau's statement, the engineer admitted to receiving the cash in exchange for manipulating the official records that govern power line changes. The investigation revealed that the transaction violated the Rajasthan Electricity Board's regulations, which require a formal application and inspection before any alteration.

Deepika has been taken into custody and will face charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The bureau has also launched a broader inquiry into similar irregularities in the district's power supply department.

The incident underscores ongoing concerns about corruption in utility services across the state, prompting officials to tighten monitoring mechanisms and increase public awareness about the legal process for electricity connections.

Further details will be released as the case proceeds through the judicial system.
