July Vehicle Dispatches Surge 33%, Maruti and Hyundai Hit New Records

July passenger vehicle dispatches in India rose 33% year‑on‑year, with Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai leading the surge and setting new sales records.

India’s passenger vehicle dispatches jumped 33% in July compared to the same month last year, marking the strongest growth in the industry’s recent history. The surge was driven largely by two of the country’s biggest manufacturers.

Maruti Suzuki reported its highest monthly sales in the brand’s 50‑year history, with the company’s models crossing the 70,000‑unit threshold for the first time in a single month. The automaker’s flagship models, including the Alto and Swift, saw record demand.

Hyundai also posted a landmark month, achieving a 33% increase in deliveries and breaking its own sales record for the brand in India. The company’s popular models, such as the Creta and Venue, were key contributors.

Industry analysts attribute the boom to a combination of pent‑up demand, attractive financing offers, and a broader shift toward private mobility as lockdown restrictions ease.
