The Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act Bill has requested organisations in Meghalaya to submit responses within 15 days, but a consensus on the bill remains elusive.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) tasked with reviewing the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) Bill has issued a formal notice to organisations operating in Meghalaya, asking them to provide written replies within a 15‑day period.

The notice, sent to a broad range of NGOs and community groups, seeks their views on the proposed amendments to the FCRA and how they might impact foreign funding and local activities.

While the JPC has set the 15‑day deadline, it has not yet reached a consensus on the bill’s final wording. Members of the committee are still debating key provisions, and a final decision is expected after the deadline.

The committee will review the responses received from Meghalaya organisations and incorporate them into its recommendations to Parliament before the bill’s next stage of discussion.
