Jodhpur rural police have nabbed two men from Mumbai who allegedly used a work‑from‑home pretext to blackmail and sexually assault a young woman. Investigations revealed contacts with several other women and the exchange of private material.
Jodhpur rural police arrested two men from Mumbai on Tuesday, following allegations that they used a work‑from‑home pretext to blackmail and sexually assault a young woman in the city.
The accused, whose identities are yet to be released, were reportedly contacted by the victim through a social media platform and were promised a remote job opportunity. Once the victim provided personal photographs, the men allegedly demanded more intimate material and money.
During the investigation, police discovered that the two men had also reached out to several other women, exchanging private content and threatening to expose them unless they complied with the demands.
Jodhpur police said the arrests were part of a broader probe into online blackmail and sexual harassment cases in the region. The accused are now in custody and face charges under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.
