The Election Commission’s verification team inspected nomination papers submitted for the Jodhpur district council’s 43 wards on Wednesday, as part of the statewide Panchayati Raj elections scheduled for 2026. The scrutiny was carried out under the guidelines of the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Act, ensuring each candidate met the eligibility criteria.
Out of a total of 208 applications, 148 were found to be in full compliance with the legal requirements and were therefore accepted. A further 57 nominations were rejected for deficiencies such as incomplete documentation or failure to meet residency norms, while four applications were outright nullified due to more serious violations.
The validation results will shape the final list of candidates contesting the upcoming local elections, with the confirmed names slated to appear on the official ballot. Election officials have indicated that the finalized list will be published shortly, allowing political parties and independent aspirants to commence their campaign activities across Jodhpur.
