Jodhpur Leads Rajasthan in PM KUSUM Scheme Implementation, State Tops National Chart

Jodhpur’s proactive rollout of the PM KUSUM solar‑pump scheme has propelled Rajasthan to the top position among Indian states for the programme’s progress.
The city of Jodhpur has emerged as a focal point for the central government’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) scheme, accelerating the installation of solar‑powered irrigation pumps across the region. Local authorities report that a significant number of farms in and around Jodhpur have already switched to solar pumps, reducing dependence on diesel and cutting operational costs for farmers.
Rajasthan’s state administration has credited Jodhpur’s momentum for the state’s overall lead in the national ranking of KUSUM implementation. Data released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy shows Rajasthan topping the chart, with the highest percentage of approved and operational solar pump projects compared to other states.
Officials say the rapid progress is the result of coordinated efforts between the state’s renewable energy department, agricultural extension services, and private solar vendors. The model being piloted in Jodhpur is expected to be replicated in other districts to sustain the state’s lead and meet the central target of installing 10 million solar pumps by 2027.
