The Inspector General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir has directed a comprehensive audit of school buses and commercial vehicles. The order also includes identifying accident-prone spots to improve road safety across the region.
The Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) has issued a directive to conduct an audit of all school buses and commercial vehicles operating in the union territory. The audit aims to assess the current condition and compliance of these vehicles with safety norms.
In parallel, the directive mandates the identification of accident hotspots throughout Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities will map locations where road accidents frequently occur to enable targeted safety interventions.
The combined exercise of vehicle auditing and hotspot identification is intended to reduce road mishaps and enhance overall road safety for commuters, especially students and workers relying on public and commercial transport.
Officials concerned have been instructed to submit their findings and recommendations within a stipulated timeframe, following which further corrective measures will be planned based on the audit outcomes.
